Man-made objects are often considered 'unnatural', and humans ourselves are frequently treated as somehow separate from nature, but we are still reliant on Earth and nature for our home and survival. It is this contradiction – being natural and nature-reliant beings who nonetheless see ourselves as separate from nature – which inspires my 'Return' series. My goal with this series is to combine human and other elements in a way which shows our potential for union with nature.

While I usually prefer working digitally, for 'Return' I have chosen to work entirely in the more traditional pencil, using a relatively simple style. The traditional media and bare-bones style is used to emphasise the overall theme of a return to unaltered nature and a break from forced industry-for-industry's-sake.
