These pics were taken at two zoos in 2009, one in Omaha, Nebraska and the other in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It was mostly a rainy July day, so I had to constantly cover my gear and duck under trees. When the sun did pop out, I was lucky enough to get some good shots, as many of the visitors at both zoos had "abandoned ship" due to the rain...thus, I had no "people clutter" to deal with when taking pictures. The gorilla pics were especially moving to me, as that year one of the males had killed another for some reason, and the mood in the habitat that day seemed to me to be a bit despondent among all the animals. Maybe it was just my imagination....but it was a unique experience for me that summer day.
